About Me

Hi, my name is Ethan Maddy. I was born and raised in Oklahoma City (Boomer Sooner!) and am currently based in Chicago.

I graduated as dual valedictorian and Overall Outstanding Senior at OU, then spent a year at the University of Cambridge, completing my MPhil in Population Health Sciences with distinction in Health Economics. After graduating, my fiancée, now wife, started her MD/PhD program in Chicago, and I started working in analytics at Humana where I now lead data strategy for the Wisconsin market. In parallel, I've been building Beacon, a mobile app to connect people to local healthcare and social services.

I am passionate about health care access and equity, and am focused on building tools that help people actually find and use care. My professional and personal experiences have taught me the same lesson from two sides: the quality of your care should not depend on who you know or where you live, but too often, it does. I am working to change that.

Six improbable facts
I once had an entire rock lodged in my left elbow. The day I was born was declared "Ethan Maddy Day" by the Oklahoma Senate. I have traveled to 32 countries. When I was 16, I was pulled over by ski patrol for skiing too fast, then offered a job. I won a national robotics competition in Washington D.C. in 8th grade.
